Position Summary
Under direction of the Road Foreman to whom assigned, is responsible for transporting granular surfacing materials and for basic maintenance of all hard surfaced roads within an assigned territory. Must perform required duties in a satisfactory manner without continuous supervision.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
- Must be able to climb, stoop, squat,,kneel, walk, reach, bend and stand.
- Must be able to traverse roadside foreslopes, ditches and blackslopes.
- Must be able to work 40 feet above the ground.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must have a Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
Duties
- Hauls and spreads granular surfacing materials.
- Spreads snow as required from roads and bridges.
- Transports other materials as needed.
- Cuts trees and brush within ROW.
- Mows roadside shoulders.
- Reports need for ditch cleaning in territory to foreman.
- Performs basic maintenance to bridges in territory, removes rock and other debris from trusses and decks.
- Performs operator level maintenance to assigned equipment and Shed/Shop.
- Maintains required time and equipment records.
- Reports to the foreman, any safety hazards or maintenance work needed to roads, bridges or equipment that falls beyond the operator’s level of capability.
- Works under direction of a lead worker (Bridge, Shop, Sign Tech.., Inspector) when so assigned.
- Reports all damaged signs or other signing problems to foreman. Makes emergency repairs if possible.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the foreman.

This job operates in all-weather types.
Required Education
Graduation from high school. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (with air brake endorsement).
