Alert Iowa
Tama County has instituted a new emergency notification system called Alert Iowa. The new notification system will distribute emergency messages in the same manner as CodeRed previously did by landline, Cell phone, Text Messages and E-mail. Alert Iowa will be able to send mass notifications to communities via internet mapping tools for quicker, more efficient calling capabilities to deliver pre-recorded public service and emergency messages directly to homes, cell phone, and businesses.
Tama County residents will not need to enter their home, landline, phone information. The state has passed legislation to automatically add landline numbers into the Alert Iowa notification system. Our Residents are welcome and encouraged to enter their contact information for business, cell phones and email addresses registered. IF you do have a home, landline, phone that you do not wish to receive notifications on please contact our office and we can remove you from the notification list.
By registering your will automatically receive Blizzard, Flash Flood and Tornado Warnings. If you would like to receive additional notifications it is as easy as selecting any or all of the following weather alerts you would like to receive: Excessive Heat, Heavy Snow, Red Flag, Wind Chill, Flood Warning, High Wind, Severe Thunderstorm, Winter Storm, Hazardous Materials, Ice Storm, Shelter In Place.
